The Executive Secretary of National Senior Secondary Education Commission, NSSEC, Dr. Benjamin Abakpa has urged all relevant stakeholders for their support and acceptability of NSSEC towards the development of our Senior Secondary Schools in Nigeria.
The ES made this known during his welcome address at the advocacy and sensitization forum on the establishment of NSSEC for stakeholders from the North West geopolitical zone in Kano.
He reiterated that the Federal Government recently approved the resuscitation of the National Secondary Education Commission Act 1999 Cap.No.73 LFN 2004 to oversee the affairs of Senior Secondary Schools in Nigeria.
According to him, the Act was enacted to, amongst others, prescribe National minimum standards for secondary education throughout Nigeria, manage national secondary education fund, and for matters connected therewith
“On this note, I urge Your Excellency, our Royal Father and all the stakeholders here present to key into the mission and vision of NSSEC and equally cascade the sensitization programme to our colleagues and all other relevant stakeholders to seek for their support and acceptability of NSSEC towards the development of our Senior Secondary Schools in Nigeria.
“However, the Commission has not been operational since its enactment despite the fact that Secondary Education is pivotal to academic excellence and low-level manpower which forms the bedrock to National Development.
