The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) has announced plans to hold the second edition of the National Technology and Innovation Summit (NTIS 2.0), aimed at strengthening innovation, research commercialisation and technology sovereignty in Nigeria.
The two-day summit is scheduled for October 7 and 8, 2026, at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
With the theme, “From Research to Wealth: Strengthening Innovation, Commercialization, and Technology Sovereignty in Nigeria,” the summit will bring together stakeholders from government, academia, industry, research institutions, development organisations, investment communities and the startup ecosystem.
According to NOTAP, NTIS 2.0 will provide a platform for policy dialogue, knowledge exchange and partnerships designed to transform research outcomes into commercially viable products and services.
The Director-General of NOTAP, Dr. Obiageli Amadiobi, said the summit would help strengthen the connection between research, innovation and economic development.
“Our goal is to accelerate the transformation of research outputs and creative ideas into commercially viable products and services that can drive inclusive and sustainable national development,” Amadiobi said.
She added that Nigeria has significant research and innovation potential, stressing that stronger collaboration among government, academia, industry and development partners is needed to translate that potential into economic opportunities.
The summit will feature ministerial addresses, keynote presentations, panel discussions, specialised workshops and breakout sessions.
Discussions will focus on technology transfer, innovation commercialisation, intellectual property protection, technology sovereignty, access to innovation financing and preparing Nigeria’s workforce for an increasingly artificial intelligence-driven economy.
Participants will also examine ways to improve collaboration between universities, industries and government, promote indigenous technology development and expand local content participation.
NOTAP said the summit would highlight progress on Project NOVA (Nigeria Outsourcing and Value Acceleration) and examine the NOTAP Local Vendor Policy (LVP) as a strategy for strengthening local participation in Nigeria’s technology sector.
The agency said NTIS 2.0 builds on the achievements of the inaugural summit and is expected to contribute to Nigeria’s drive for technological independence, innovation-led growth and global competitiveness.
