NUC approves 26 new programmes at FUD

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 26 new academic programmes at the Federal University Dutse (FUD), Jigawa, effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.

 This is contained in a statement  by the university’s Acting Director of Public Affairs, Alh. Abdullahi Yahaya-Bello, in Dutse.

Yahaya-Bello said the approval was conveyed to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulkarim Mohammed, through a letter signed by the NUC’s Acting Director of Academic Planning, Mr Abubakar Girei.

He noted that NUC verification teams had visited the university months earlier to assess the human and material resources available for the proposed programmes.

The newly approved programmes include B.Sc Food Science and Technology, B.A Arabic, B.Sc Industrial Chemistry, B.Sc Industrial Mathematics, Ph.D Chemistry and Ph.D Mathematics.

Others include PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D Fisheries and Aquaculture, MFA Master in Fisheries and Aquaculture, and PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D Environmental Management and Toxicology.

Also approved are PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D Human Anatomy; PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D Human Physiology; and PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D Soil Science and Crop Science.

Further approvals cover Ph.D Animal Science, Ph.D Animal Production, PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D Management, MBA and Master in Business Administration.

Other new offerings include PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D Taxation, Master in Taxation and Fiscal Policy, Ph.D English, and PGD Civil Society in Development (PGDCSD).

Also approved are Master of Civil Society in Development (MCSD), Ph.D Political Science, Ph.D Criminology and Security Studies, and Master in Criminal Justice and Security Administration.

Finally, PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D Biochemistry were approved, rounding up the comprehensive expansion of FUD’s postgraduate and undergraduate academic offerings.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the NUC, congratulated the Directorate of Academic Planning and departments involved, and urged them to uphold FUD’s academic standards.
