NUJ Sokoto Congratulates Sultan on 20th Coronation Anniversary, Commends Support for Journalists

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sokoto State Council, has congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, on the 20th anniversary of his coronation, commending his contributions to peace, national unity and the journalism profession.

The Council, in a congratulatory statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Comrade Usman Mohammed Binji, and Secretary, Muhammad Nasir Bello, described the milestone as a remarkable period of dedicated service to the Sultanate, Nigeria and humanity.

The statement said the Sultan, who is also the President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), had demonstrated exemplary traditional and spiritual leadership over the past two decades.

It noted that his commitment to religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence, national unity and interfaith dialogue had continued to strengthen relationships among Nigerians of different religious and cultural backgrounds.

The NUJ also acknowledged the Sultan’s contributions to peacebuilding, national development and the preservation of the historical, cultural and religious heritage of the Sokoto Caliphate.

Particularly, the Council expressed appreciation for his goodwill and sustained support for journalists, especially members of the NUJ Sokoto State Council.

It said his recognition of the media’s role in society and encouragement of responsible journalism had provided valuable support to journalists in promoting public enlightenment, accountability, peace and social cohesion.

The Council further emphasised the importance of the Sultanate institution in preserving Sokoto State’s historical identity and promoting national unity.

While wishing the Sultan many more years of fruitful service, the NUJ prayed that Almighty Allah would grant him continued good health, wisdom, strength and divine guidance in his leadership of the Sultanate, the Muslim Ummah and the nation.
