The Chairman, Nupe Foundation, Engr. Yusuf Yabagi Sani has appealed for the immediate release of the remaining of 273 girls that were recently abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno state, by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

“The Nupe Foundation, on behalf of the Nupe-speaking people, expresses sympathy with the parents and other well- meaning Nigerians on the abduction of the innocent Secondary School Students of Chibok in Borno State,” Yabagi said. “The mental torture and the physical pains the innocent children and parents are being subjected to is unacceptable”, he added.

According to Yabagi, “These children are leaders of tomorrow who went in search of learning to better their lives, that of the families and be well equipped to provide services to the society and Nigeria in the near future. This dream is about being aborted by whoever is behind this act.”

“We, therefore, join other Nigerians to condemn the inhuman treatment. While we commend the efforts of the Security Agencies in ensuring the release of these students, we wish to further encourage the Governments at all levels and individual to pull all resources at their disposal to rescue our children,” he added.

The Chairman, however, called on the abductors to release the children to their parents saying “we also appeal to the abductors, wherever they may be, to release these innocent children in the name of God Almighty.”
