NUT demands payment of Kaduna new teachers’ 6 months’ salaries

The Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Kaduna State wing has appealed to the Kaduna State Government to pay the six months’ salary arrears of the newly recruited teachers in the state.
The outgoing acting Chairman of the Union, Comrade Bala Ado made the appeal at the 6th quadrennial and 12th state Delegate Conference of the Union in Kaduna which coincide with the union’s election into various offices held in Zaria yesterday.
Comrade Bala Ado said the newly recruited Teachers are facing hard times attending classes without been paid for the last six month.
He also challenged the state Governor Nasir El-rufai to declare his administration’s stand on the new minimum wage of thirty thousand Naira for workers in the state, just as his counterpart in other states have made their stand known “The Teachers recently employed by the El-rufai led administration in Kaduna state are facing difficult times as they are yet to receive
their salaries for the last six months”
“No Teacher can put his best at work with empty stomach, and struggling to meet up with Family need”
“As a union we challenge him to declare his stand on the wen minimum wage of thirty thousand naira for workers in Kaduna state, just as his colleagues in other states have done long ago”
Delivering his address, the Kaduna state Governor Nasir El-rufai represented by the permanent secretary Kaduna state Schools Quality assurance authority Umma Ahmed said the El-rufai led administration is committed towards upgrading the standard of education and improving the welfare of its teachers.
According to her, Governor El-ruafi has ordered the immediate payment of the six months’ salary arrears of the newly recruited Teachers.
“The El-rufai led government has never and will not take the patience of Teachers for granted, The Governor has already ordered the immediate payment of all teachers’ outstanding salaries” Umma added
“Teachers too should re-double their efforts to complement government’s effort in delivery better education for our children”
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Kaduna state wing Comrade Sirajo………… said the union under his watch will work with the state government to ensure that Education especially at Primary and Secondary school level is taken to the next level Sirajo further appeal to all Teachers across state to be more dedicated to their duty, while assuring them of a vibrant leadership that will continue to protect the right of its members at all times.
Dignities at the event include the former NLC President Abdullwaheed Omar, Representatives of the NUT President, emir of Zazzau, LGA Education secretaries, past leaders of the Union and other stakeholders in the Education sector.
The theme of this year’s Delegate conference is “Towards Transforming Effective Teacher Education to Improve Learning Outcome.”
