A non governmental organization known as Nutrition International (NI) through Society for Women Development and Empowerment of Nigeria (SWODEN) sensitized 250 health workers and male motivators.
Speaking to journalists during the training, the Nutrition International state program officer, Garba Muhammed said, the training is aimed at boosting knowledge of health workers on the importance of uptake of supplement to pregnant women at their facilities.
He explained that, out of 250 participants, 100 are health workers while the remaining 150 are male motivators from five local government of Kiyawa, Buji, Kafin Hausa, Taura and Gagarawa local government areas.
The program officer maintained that, the 150 male motivators where training on how to support their wives and other community members to achieve nutrition society.
“Among male motivators participants, we have tea sellers, traditional leaders, religious leaders and other community influencers who influence other community members to support their wives to attend anti-natal cares and uptake of supplement to pregnant women”, he said.
