The Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation (NWBF) is to send two coaches, Tope Ogunyemi and Adoke Obereilene, to Leipzig City University in Germany for training, ahead of the 2016 Olympics.
The Secretary of the federation, Victor Anusa, who made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen yesterday in Lagos, said the training was to beef-up the crew.
“The federation wants to create a cordial relationship with the German Olympic Committee through this exchange programme.
“Leipzig City University has many experts in Wheelchair Basketball training, who can be of immense benefit to our federation.
“They will be trained at the Leipzig City University with the assistance of the German Olympic Committee.
“Since we are hoping to participate in the forthcoming Olympics, there is need for us to fortify our team before hand,” Anusa said.
According to him, the two-month training which comes up in June will enhance the skill of e coaches and broaden their technical knowledge about the sport.
“The capacity building exercise will have a ripple effect on the team, which will place them at international standards.”
He expressed appreciation to the Grand Patron of the NWBF, Victor Ochei, and the federation’s President, Bukola Olapade, for repositioning the sport.
