The Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, has told Nigerian students that he will not be afraid to take loans from his government to finance their education if he is elected in the 2023 elections.

Obi was addressing students and youths at a townhall meeting, Saturday, January 28 in Maiduguri where he also pledged to pull the 20 million out-of-school Northern children into production to boost the country’s economy.

Responding to questions from students on school fees during the townhall meeting, Obi said jobs would be guaranteed for graduates in the productive society his administration would ensure to enable them pay their educational loans.

He also reiterated his promise to ensure end to university lecturers strike, saying, “four years of your academic programme will be fours, and five years will be five years.”

At the campaign rally, later, Peter Obi expressed regret at the 20 million Northern children out of school.

“These 20 million children have learnt the Quran, and are, therefore, educated,” continuing, “is pull them out of the streets and equip them with skills to liberate them from poverty.”

Obi stressed: “With skills, I will launch them into production to boost the economy of the country.”
