Obi, Kwankwaso camps unite, launch ‘OK Movement’ ahead of 2027

Supporters of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso have formally joined forces ahead of the 2027 presidential election, unveiling a new political mobilisation platform tagged the “OK Movement.”
The initiative, announced on Monday, signals a potential opposition realignment as both camps seek to build a broader coalition capable of confronting the ruling establishment.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Justin Ijeh, the group said the “O” represents Obi while the “K” stands for Kwankwaso, describing the movement as a unified front for national renewal.
According to the group, the launch goes beyond symbolism, marking the rollout of coordinated national and state structures aimed at driving what it called “systemic reform and national rebirth.”
“Nigeria stands at a defining crossroads,” the statement read, citing worsening economic hardship, rising cost of living, and insecurity as key drivers behind the movement.
The OK Movement positioned itself as a rallying platform for Nigerians across ethnic, regional, and religious lines, rejecting what it described as divisive politics that have long hindered national progress.
“We reject the tired politics of tribalism, regionalism, and religious sentiment… our strength lies in our diversity, and our progress depends on our unity,” the group stated.
It added that the movement is already mobilising from grassroots to national level, with a focus on accountability, economic stability, and inclusive governance.
Framing its agenda in moral and patriotic terms, the group said its vision aligns with the aspirations captured in Nigeria’s national ethos, promising to build a country defined by justice, peace, and shared prosperity.
“Our mission is clear: to build a Nigeria that works not just for a few, but for every citizen,” the statement added.
Observers say the emergence of the OK Movement could reshape opposition dynamics if it translates into a formal political alliance, particularly as talks of coalition-building intensify ahead of 2027.
