A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State and supporter of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s government, Jude Okechukwu Emecheta, has asked the Senator representing Anambra-North senatorial district in the 10th Assembly, Tony Nwoye to desist from unnecessary grandstanding, saying he is no longer an Student Union Government (SUG) president.
Emecheta who responded to a statement credited to Nwoye during the town hall meeting Gov. Soludo held with Anambra indigenes in Abuja recently; where the Senator allegedly boasted that they will fight Soludo and make sure he does not get second term, if he does not stop saying things about Peter Obi, said it is time Tony Nwoye grew and understand that rather than waste his energy in unnecessary grandstanding and grandiloquence, he should team up with the likes of Victor Umeh and Ifeanyi Ubah to get the Federal Government to address erosion and other ecological problems in Anambra State.
Emecheta said Tony Nwoye should be made to understand that Soludo is entitled to his opinion and there is absolutely nothing Tony Nwoye and his cronies can do to deny Soludo second term because his good deeds are already campaigning for him.
He said Soludo never attacked Peter Obi; but only made obvious remarks about election and he has stopped, adding that it has always been part of Tony Nwoye’s life to grandstand and to hype things to get undue and unmerited milage.
He said Ifeanyi Ubah is powering with security in Anambra-South and Victor Umeh is well celebrated and distinguished amongst his peers; that Tony Nwoye only looked for what will give him milage in the town hall meeting the governor held in Abuja.
Emecheta maintained that Soludo is bigger than attacking Peter Obi and that Tony Nwoye should concentrate on his primary assignment at the National Assembly for Ndi-Anambra and synergise with other senators from Anambra in liaison with the governor to attract more federal presence to the state.
Emecheta said Tony Nwoye is not in the Senate to spite Governor Soludo and that Soludo never attacked Peter Obi; that the three senators of Anambra origin should work with the governor so they can present issues concerning the state to the Federal Government and not to say he will campaign against Soludo because that was not the reason he was elected to serve in the 10th Senate.
He said, ” Tony Nwoye should be more matured now because he is no more an SUG president. He should that he has grown. He was one time PDP chairman in Anambra state. He has come a long way in Anambra politics and he should play at that top level not to come down and play like people in the village.
Tony Nwoye is still behaving like an SUG president for saying that he will campaign against Soludo in public. He should be talking about how Peter Obi will get his mandate back and not disrupting a meeting of very important personalities with his unnecessary grandstanding.
