Ogbe quits Mighty Jets as coach

The Mighty Jets technical adviser Bernard Ogbe has resigned his appointment with the management of the Nigeria National League (NNL) side.

The former Gombe United head coach tendered his resignation letter to the chairman of the Tin City side, citing undue interference in his work, threat to life, non-payment of arrears of salaries among others.

Ogbe rescued the Jos-based side from going down on relegation in the 2012/13 NNL season and in the ongoing 2013/14 season Mighty Jets are second on the NNL Division A log on 16 points two points behind leaders, Wikki Tourists.

In the letter of resignation duly signed by himself and addressed to the side’s chairman, the former Akwa United gaffer stated as reasons for quitting his position thus: “Constant text messages of insults and threat to my life by unidentified persons of which you have been very well informed.

“Brewing crises of confidence on the part of the technical set-up of the team, which appears to be that of mudslinging as regards team selection and substitution during matches?

“Interference in technical matters as regards short-listing of new and dropping of old players in the last transfer window without my technical input and imposition of team selection on me which I viewed seriously as usurpation of my office as the technical adviser.

“Non-payment of my accumulated salary for six months from October 7 to April 7, 2014,” read Ogbe’s letter to the chairman of the side.

While he tendered his unreserved appreciation to the side for considering him worthy to serve the team in the capacity of a technical adviser, he pleaded for the prompt payment of his arrears of salaries as he wishes the Jos-based side the best in the ongoing league season.

Ogbe said he is available to any side that will desire his professional services in the ongoing season.
