The former House of Representatives candidate for the Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in Kogi State, Comrade Usman Okai Austin, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing rumours suggesting his defection to another political platform.

In a statement personally signed by him on Sunday, Okai clarified that he remains a loyal and dedicated member of the PDP and has never contemplated resigning from the party at any point.

“I am still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party. I never tendered any resignation letter, and I have no intention of leaving the PDP,” he stated.

Okai confirmed that he attended a coalition meeting of the African Democratic Party (ADC) in Kogi State earlier in the year but explained that his participation was based on the understanding that the PDP was initially part of the discussions.

He noted that once the PDP withdrew from the coalition, he decided to remain firmly within the party.

“I attended the coalition meeting of the African Democratic Party earlier this year, thinking that the Peoples Democratic Party would be part of it. Since the PDP later backed out of the coalition, I remain in my party,” he said.

Okai emphasised that his loyalty to the PDP has been tested over time and remains unshaken despite past challenges. According to him, no political circumstance or propaganda can make him abandon a party he has worked tirelessly to strengthen.

“I have never, for one day, thought of leaving the PDP, and I will not leave. We have been through thick and thin together. If the challenges we faced during the 2023 elections could not make me leave the party, nothing will,” he declared.

He further commended party leaders such as Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for their ongoing efforts to reposition and unite the PDP.

“The Peoples Democratic Party will come back stronger, and nobody can distract us,” Okai affirmed.
