Nosa Akenzua, Asaba

Delta Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has urged retired top civil servants in the state to support the mentoring of civil servants for effective service delivery.
He made the call on Wednesday in Asaba when members of Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ASORHOPS) visited him.
The governor said that it was necessary for the retired senior civil servants to be involved in mentoring of persons still in service, because they would not like to see the collapse of civil service in the state.
“No one leaves a place and watches it collapse; there is a lot of roles for you (ASORHOPS) to play to ensure that the civil service you left behind can still be very effective in the delivery of services.
“If these classes of people are involved in training and mentorship, we will have a better system. It is my prayer that this partnership that has been started will continue to grow,’’ he said.
He commended the association for providing the state government with compendium for the refocusing of civil service in the state.
