Delta Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, on Saturday, applauded traditional rulers in the state for their individual and collective roles in consolidating and supporting his administration’s peace programmes.
Okowa gave the commendation during the 10th coronation anniversary of the Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom, HRM (Dr.) Matthew Ediri Egbi, Owahwa ll at his palace in Otu-Jeremi, Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state at the weekend
He noted that royal fathers in the state have been playing unique roles in promoting peace and unity in their respective kingdoms, adding that they should sustain their peace effort so as to consolidate the tempo of development in the state.
The Governor, also commended royal fathers who were at the ceremony in solidarity with their Ughievwen counterpart, pointing out that such solidarity was needed across the divide.
According to him, when our royal fathers from across the divide, (North, South and Central) work together, then we can ensure greater peace in our state and that is the role that they have continuously played.
“I want to thank all our royal majesties for the roles they have played in consolidating and supporting our peace programmes in the state.
“I want to, also, appreciate all our royal fathers who have come here in solidarity with the Ughievwen monarch because this is the kind of thing we expect and which our royal fathers have continue to do.
“When our royal fathers from across the divide, (North, South and Central work together), then we can ensure greater peace in our state and that is the role you have continuously played,” he said.
While congratulating the Ughievwen monarch on the occasion of his 10th coronation anniversary, the governor said the monarch had been a very wonderful king, adding that the Ughievwen monarch was worthy of the state’s support.
“I want to formally congratulate you on your 10th year coronation anniversary. Although we have been told that you have been on the throne for over 20 years, but we congratulate you for this anniversary that is being celebrated today.
“I am glad that l am able to be here today. The reason is that you have been a very wonderful king and worthy of our support.
“Secondly, the Ughievwen Kingdom has been a very peaceful kingdom. I must note it and l have the opportunity to say thank you to the people of Ughievwen Kingdom for supporting His Royal Majesty and for supporting the peace programme of the state.
“Your Royal Majesty, l did listened to your speech and l am particularly very glad that you have decided with your kingdom, to embark on a tree crop development.
