The Okun Development Association Jigawa state chapter has donated food and social amenities to orphans in Jigawa State.
Speaking during the visit to orphanage house in Dutse, the chairman of the Okun Development Association in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Ismaila Idowu said the donation is part of the activities organised by the association to celebrate ‘Okun day’.
He explained that, Okun is a tribal group of Kogi state, speaking Yoruba language and every year celebrates ‘Okun day’ with all of the members of the group nationwide including Jigawa.
“This We choose to visit orphanage house as part of our annual celebration to give them our contribution and make feel sense of belonging as humans”.
He maintained that, the association also decided to donate foods and other items to these children in this house. “As we believes this would positively touch their lives and gives them sense of belongings as the future leaders”he said.
The chairman listed the items as bag of Rice, cartoons of Digestive Biscuits, cartoons of soft drinks, some packages of Salt, Maggi Star, Pasta food and detergent soaps.
He then commended governor Malam Umar Namadi, for beautifying the orphanage house with all necessary equipment and staffs to take care with orphans.
While making his remarks, the Galadiman Yorubawa of Dutse Emirate, Otunba Ojo O. Felix, who is also a member of Okun Development association, thanks God for giving them the privilege, to support orphans.
