Olawoyin is now SCI Regional Media and Communications Manager for West and Central Africa

Save the Children International (SCI) has confirmed the appointment of Mr Kunle Olawoyin as the regional media and communications manager for West and Central Africa.

 

Olawoyin joined Save the Children, Nigeria Country Office in 2018 as Information and Communication Coordinator and was later assigned as Information and External Communication Specialist.

 

Olawoyin rose to become Media and Communications Manager in 2021 and in April 2023, he was seconded to the WCA Regional office as the Regional Media Manager.

 

He is a trained journalist and development communications/campaign professional, Kunle has worked in both broadcast and print media in the past including Silverbird’s Rhythm 93.7 FM and National Mirror Newspapers. He joined the humanitarian and development world in 2008 and has worked with Local, National, and International Non-Governmental Organizations, namely, Nigerian Conservation Foundation, Oxfam GB, and Oxfam International, Nigeria as a Media and Communications Officer.

Olawoyin holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication and a master’s degree in communication studies. Kunle has also graduated with an LL. B Law Degree and crowned it with a master’s in law (LL.M) Degree. He is an associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and a member of the AWARE 7 of the Pan Atlantic University, Lagos, Nigeria.

 

Being a former media practitioner and an adequately trained expert in the field, Kunle, no doubt brought added value to SCI Nigeria’s vision of becoming the foremost campaigning organization with, and for children and the recognized voice for their rights to survive, learn, and be protected. He successfully Led the design and implementation of the SCI Nigeria, Media and Communications Strategy, with a special focus on enhancing the quality and frequency of internal and external communication products and media engagement. He was recently provided direct support to Save the Children Country offices in Haiti, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Liberia.
