Ganduje

By Jude Opara, Abuja

National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje at the weekend promised that the party would conduct a free, fair and credible primary election in the forthcoming primary election of the party ahead of the November 2024 governorship election in the state.
This is as one of the frontline aspirants in the election; Olusola Oke has promised to pursue both human and infrastructural development if elected as governor.
Oke who spoke at the national secretariat of the party shortly after submitting his nomination and expression of interest forms said the level of poverty in the state is unacceptable adding that the pervasive poverty has dampened the dignity and morale of the people especially the youths.
He equally said he would unlock the agricultural potentials of the state by giving soft loans and enhanced seedlings to farmers to enable them return to the farm to cultivate foods for the entire state and even beyond.
“We are going to aggressively invest in the agricultural sector by empowering our men and women to return to the farm. We will give them soft loans to empower them to succeed. I know that when we talk of farming, there will be questions on security, under my watch, the barracks of the Amotekun will be in the bush, where they will clear all the elements making life unbearable for our people”.
Similarly, also addressing newsmen after returning his own forms, engr. Olusola Oyedele, another aspirant said as a grassroots person, he is sure that he would emerge victorious not only at the primary election, but also in the election proper.
“The people of Ondo state know that I am a grassroots man. I mingle well with the people at the grassroots. Come to my house, you will not see big people around me. From the days of my little beginnings, my friends are those who are at the rung of radar. The reason why I’m going into governance is to raise these men so that they can be at the level that I am”.
Oyedele also promised to tackle the issue of insecurity head-on with the empowering of the South West regional security outfit, Amotekun to ensure the adequate protection of life and property.
Speaking earlier, Ganduje who was represented by the Deputy National Organizing Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru said the APC is upbeat of winning the governorship election in Ondo state because the state is a stronghold of the ruling party.
Nze Duru added that the next on the calendar is the screening exercise which he said will take place between the 11th and 12th of April.
“The last is for us to assure you that the party is interested and desirous of conducting a free fair transparent primary’s in Ondo state. And if we trust that APC would win Edo state, we have confidence that APC will win Ondo state”.
