Preparatory to the November 16 this year’s governorship election in Ondo State, seven aspirants are set to battle for the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the election .
The seven aspirants have already been screened and cleared for the Ondo State PDP governorship primary holding this month in Akure, the state capital.
Six of the aspirants were cleared by the PDP screening committee for the Ondo governorship primary chaired by former Ebonyi State Governor and erstwhile Senator, Dr Sam Egwu.
The only aspirant who was disqualified by the Sam Egwu-led screening committee, Elder Bosun Arebuwa was however cleared by PDP appeal panel under the chairmanship of former Adamawa State Governor, Mr Boni Haruna.
The seven cleared aspirants are; Hon Agboola Ajayi, a former Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Olusola Ebiseni, a three times Commissioner in Ondo State, Elder Bosun Arebuwa, Engineer Adeolu Akinwumi, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, a business man, Hon. Kolade Akinjo, former House of Representatives member and Barrister John Mafo.
Already, the national leadership of the PDP has appointed Senator Abba Moro as the Chairman of the Ondo State Ward Congress Electoral Committee to conduct the 3-Man Ad-Hoc Ward Congress for the purpose of electing 3Ad-Hoc Delegates per Ward (one of whom shall be a woman.
The Ward Congress is scheduled to hold at the Ward Secretariat in each of the 203 Wards in the State yesterday (Monday, April 8, 2024).
Other members of the Committee are; Hon. Tom Zakari, Comr. Isaiah Makinde and Chief David Kolawole Vaughan with Barr. Nheoma Ndu as Secretary.
This was confirmed in a statement on Saturday by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon Debo Ologunagba.
