Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, one of the aspirants in the forthcoming Ondo state governorship election on Thursday boasted that in every ramification he remains the best to govern the South West state, given his sound academic qualifications and vast economic resources.
Ibrahim who is one of the other 15 aspirants vying to fly the flag of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the said election told newsmen in Abuja that will not steal money from the state because he is already very comfortable and will have no need to acquire all what he already has several years ago.
The aspirant who currently represents Ondo South senatorial zone was at the National Secretariat of the party to submit his nomination and expression of interest forms said the main reason most leaders steal public funds is the desire to have what they could not acquire before getting into public office.
“The main reason most leaders steal is the quest to acquire most of the things they could not get before getting the opportunity to serve. In fact it is someone like me who has already been blessed by God that should become the governor of a state because I already have houses in London, I have 96 flats in Dubai, I have two mansions in Asokoro and another two in Maitama. I have built a university on over 300 acres of land in Ondo and many other assets, so why will steal public funds, to do what?”
Ibrahim further expressed his confidence of winning not just the APC primary election but even the governorship election given the fact that he has the knowledge of how to connect with the people especially at the grassroots.
He said would deploy the same measures he used in winning the senatorial election to carry the day in the governorship election, beginning with the payment of the membership dues of over 100,000 of his supporters across the state.
“I can assure you that we are going to win the next election, we have a movement that were set up, we have collected data of over 400,000 people I have visited over 120 wards, to complete to last week.
“My focus when I become governor, is to ensure that one, the Bitumen $47 billion seated in Agbabu is extracted.
“I brought the current Bitumen bill before the national assembly and we are now on the third reading of that bill so that we can have a law backing Bitumen. So why Bitumen arrangements have been failing is because we don’t have law guiding that”.
When asked if he was intimidated with the aspiration of the current governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa to continue in office, Ibrahim said; “You will see Cambridge 74 percent at thesis at PHD and so many others level and go and pick or carry Oshodi. Even when Akerodolu was alive , he gave my own to me before he goes out in the morning, is it Ayedatiwa that I will be afraid of? Ayedatiwa is my friend, I have nothing against him, it is just that he should do his one year and disappear”.
He also promised to continue in the footsteps of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in strengthening the regional security outfit Amotekun.
