The incident was said to have occurred at about 8 am yesterday, when the gunmen invaded the church during the Sunday worship.

An eyewitness said a young man, who was guarding the church was killed while several others sustained injuries from gunshots and were rushed to the hospital in the area for treatment.

“The Mass was going on when the gunmen came and started shooting sporadically and people started running in all directions”, he stated.

He added that “Military personnel came and asked some of our youths to lead them to where the attackers fled to. As I am talking to you, they are combing the bushes around.”

The Vice Chairman of Kachia Local Government, Hon. Alfred Adamu, who confirmed the incident in a telephone interview,  said he was yet to get the figure of any casualty from the church attack.

The Kaduna state Police Command could however not be reached to react to the incident, as all efforts to reach the spokesman of the Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Aminu Lawan, on phone, was fruitless, as his telephone was switched-off.
