As the government of President Bola Tinubu prepares to mark its one year in office, a support group, National Progressives Hub has said that the administration is people oriented which has also made a lot of critical decisions.
National Coordinator of the group, Hon. Bukie Okangbe at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday said it is using the period appraise what he described as the courage, determination and commitment of the president in putting the country at the forefront of growth and development across sectors.
Okangbe said the support group believes in the capacity and competence of the president in delivering on his electoral promises to the people of Nigeria, insisting that an appraisal of his one year in office has clearly shown that the president has made history in many landmark sectors of the country.
“In fact, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made the most important, critical and people-centred decisions in his one year in office than any other president since 1999 within the time limit.
“We have seen in the president, a compassionate, prudent, diligent, hardworking and honest leader and father, working round the clock to reposition the image and integrity of Nigeria among committee of nations.
“Every international engagements of the president has been an opportunity to woo investors into the country and these had truly facilitated many foreign investment in the last almost one year. Many of these foreign investment cut across sectors like oil and gas, agriculture, security, telecommunication, infrastructure, aviation, energy and power among others”.
He also gave kudos to the President for boosting the posterity of the country through infrastructural projects with the launching of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road which is about 700km road starting from Lekki Deep Seaport.
“This project will run through different states, local governments and communities in Nigeria boosting economic activities and empowering both formal and informal sectors.
“On the 3rd of April 2024, the president signed into law the revised Students Loan which established the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). This came as a relief to a large number of students many of whom might have been contemplating dropping out of school. Also, there have been many loans rolled out under the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration which focus more on the small and medium scale businesses”.
Okangbe further commended the President on the commissioning of three mega Gas Plants on the 15th of May 2024 in Imo and Delta states, adding that the newly commissioned gas plants when completed will supply 25% of gas to Nigeria market.
However, while fielding questions from newsmen, the National Coordinator of the Progressives Hub accepted that at the moment Nigerians are going through some hard times occasioned by some policies of the government, but quickly added that they would fizzle out in a matter of time.
According to him, President Tinubu has given his words that very soon Nigerians will begin to reap the benefits of his economic policies, and appealed to the people to exercise a little more patience for the good times ahead.
