Onu tasks engineers on industrialization

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has challenged indigenous Engineers and Scientists to brace up innovations that will quicken the industrialisation process of the nation.
Dr. Onu stated this, when he received the President of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Babagana Muhammed ( FNSE) in his office on Tuesday in Abuja.
Dr. Onu commended the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) for their immense contributions towards nation building and human development especially in areas of providing scholarships to Science Students in the Country.
Dr. Onu stressed that the Executive Order 5 will be sustainable by bringing Nigerian Engineers and Scientists to the centre of the country’s economic activities, adding that Nigeria’s industrialization process has not been working fast due to weak technological base.
He further stated that the ministry is determined to accelerate and harness the industrialization process in the Country. He stated that with all the research going on all over the world, new knowledge is coming up and it is important that our engineers be acquainted such innovative knowledge.
The Minister called on the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) and The National Science Engineering and Infrastructure (NASENI) to work in synergy to bring an end to power problems in the country.
Earlier, the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Babagana Mohammed (FNSE) said that his society has created an advocacy platform for exploration and harnessing of regional resources for rapid regional economic development, through collaborations amongst Government, Academia, and industry.
He also enumerated many other intervention efforts of the society such as supporting the Federal Government in its effort to fight and curb the spread of CoronaVirus pandemic in the country.
