Opeifa seeks NURTW support to reposition transport services

As the government looks to swiftly reposition transportation services in the nation’s capital, Secretary FCT Transport Secretariat, Kayode Opeifa has solicited the support of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in achieving the objective.
Opeifa reiterated that the FCT Administration’s resolve to empower transporters, by making the environment more conducive for business.
He spoke while on a courtesy call on NURTW National President, Alhaji Najeem Yasin, at its headquarters in Garki, on Wednesday.
According to him, FCTA is going to hold a two day sensitisation campaign to tackle the issue of security ad illegal operations within the transport sector.
Opeifa warned that government would make life very difficult for those coming to cause problems for others in the public transport sector and the general public.
“As a major operator in FCT, the NURTW remains a critical stakeholder in the quest to reposition public transportation system in FCT.
“We should be able to make Union members millionaires, by helping them to develop their businesses to an advanced level,” he said.
Earlier, NURTW National President, assured the government of support, in order to achieve the laudable transport objectives in the FCT.
He praised the FCT Transport Secretary for deeming it fit to visit the Union, and pledged their readiness to ensure he succeeds in office.
