As part of effort to maintain its position of free open defecation, the Jigawa State Environmental Protection Agency (JISEPA) in collaboration with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has 170 Faecal Sludge Emptiers and other environmental protection workers in Jigawa state.
The Managing Director, Jigawa State Environmental Protection Agency, Sanatarian Adamu Sabo said, the participants were trained on how to maintain regular hygienic business and protection for the protection of public health.
He maintained that, apart of Faecal Sludge Emptiers, the participants of the training also involved the 27 local government WASH and JISEPA Operations Unit staff.
Sanitarian Adamu Sabo added that, the local government unit WASH and JISEPA staff, were also trained for continued monitoring and enforcement of standards.
“The two day training aims to improve their business due to its paramount importance, as these people fills a very big vacuum in the society, because their work is all about ensuring hygienic environment in the communities”, Sabo said.
According to him, during the training they were registered and, a certificate of participation was presented to them will be served as signed satisfaction from the agency to do their Faecal Sludge Emptiers business everywhere in the state.
He then commended governor Malam Umar Namadi for his support to the agency as according to him, the effort is part of his 12 point agenda of driving and sustaining the state’s open defecation free status.
