Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have vowed to apprehend bandits who attacked Arufu, in Taraba state, as well as Mchia and Chembe communities, in Logo, Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue state, where seven persons were killed.
Speaking with newsmen in Makurdi on Tuesday, the Force Commander (FC), OPWS, Major General Sunday Igbinowahia said the troops have already commenced a follow-up mission to apprehend those that were behind the incident.
He explained that OPWS troops were already combing the surrounding bushes with the aim of identifying the camps and hideouts of the armed bandits, with the aim of flushing them out.
The Force Commander therefore appealed to the locals in its Joint Operation Area (JOA) to always supply the Command with the necessary information to nip such attacks in the bud.
Furthermore, he explained that the Force Headquarters of OPWS has made available Emmergency Response Numbers to the people of Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states, for use, and also encouraged them to call the numbers, in the event of any emergency.
Therefore, General Igbinowahia urged locals within its JOA to endeavor to use these Emergency response numbers: 07087871515; 09153401043; 08060332239, to report unusual security issues around them, in the event of any emergency.
