Orphanage Foundation produces first medical doctor

From Olanrewaju Lawal,Ilorin The first Islamic Orphanage Foundation, Ilorin Kwara state has produced a medical doctor and seven graduates from different universities within twelve years it was formally established.   The Chairman of the Foundation, Alhaji. Seifullahi Alege who disclosed this while addressing parents, stakeholders during the annual general meeting held at the uncompleted permanent site at the weekend said the doctor, who was among the first children adopted in year 2012, graduated from ABU,Zaria.    Alege said the medical doctor who was sponsored by a philanthropist who does not want to be named, had” completed his house man ship and is willing to serve in Kwara state in order to contribute his quota to the humanity service.  He said 15 children that were forwarded to the foundation twelve years ago have increase to 187.   Out of this number, 53 were in tertiary institutions, 61 in Secondary schools while 54 were in Primary schools apart seven of the children presently at the kindergarten.    Alege also disclosed that among the children, who could not cope in western education were enrolled at various workshop to acquire skill in Fashion design, lubrication, have been empowered with their working tools.   He added that over N15 million has been spent to cater for the motherless children in the last few years and the Foundation has been in fore front to provide better living standard for the children.   The Chairman of the occasion, Justice Saliu Saidu of Federal High Court, Lagos said mothers and guardians of the orphans have greater roles to play in nurturing their children to become responsible citizens in the society more than any other groups in the country. He urged them to brace up for the challenges of upbringing their children saying the death of their spouses should not be used as an excuse to relinquish their parental responsibilities.  Earlier his remarks, the state Commissioner for Education Science and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Saka Onimago, commended the foundation for ensuring that the orphans had access to education, assuring that the state government will always support the foundation where necessary.  Onimago who was represented by an Assistant Director, Examinations Department and state Coordinator, Nation Board of Arabic and Islamic Studies (A.B.U), Zaria,Alhaji Imam Abdulkkadir Sheu, said that with the new report, there is hope and new drive in consolidating the objectives the foundation”.
