Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to avoid the mistake of the Presidential and National Assembly elections by transmitting the results of the Governorship and House of Assembly election electronically.

 

Governor Ortom gave the advise while speaking with Journalists after casting his vote in Gbajimba, Guma,, his country home.

 

He described the turnout of voters as impressive, stating that Benue electorates are eagerly waiting for the results to be uploaded electronically.

 

Ortom said “I hope that INEC has taken not of the great mistake that was done during the last voting exercise and trans!mission of results of the Presidential election because you cannot shift the goal post in the middle of the game. That is what INEC did last time.

“On the part of the electorate, they did well as you can see, the BVAS, the accreditation and the voting process worked. The challenge is why did they not upload result of the election electronically as stipulated in their guidelines? That is what we were working with and you go and shift the goal post and that is how the election was rigged.

 

” We are completely dissatisfied with what had happened and it’s unacceptable and that is why we have gone to court because we are law abiding citizens and we want everybody to be free, we don’t want crisis.

“From here, we want the result to be transmitted. Let us know who has the highest votes, not going to doctor it somewhere and say there is problem with server.

 

“I think Nigerians are not ready to hear that. The international observers have completely disagreed with the process which produced whoseever emerged as the winner.
