Ortom’s defection saved us great public shame – Benue APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State, has stated categorically that it feels greatly relieved from the unnecessary public shame that characterized Governor Samuel Ortom’s journey out of the party.
The party stated this in a statement signed by the state Director of Publicity, Peterhot Apeh and made available to PeoplesDaily yesterday.
Peterhot accused Governor Ortom of carrying out relentless efforts to demonize the party and its leaders before decamping.
“As a party, the governor’s decamping returns us to our position of strength as an opposition party, where we were before the 2015 general elections when our party members and supporters thronged out in their numbers to give us victory over the PDP, a gesture we are confident still awaits us in 2019.
“As a responsible political party, we feel that rather than run from one political party to another, the APC shall invest its efforts in presenting more credible candidate in the forthcoming elections, who will evidently have and show capacity to live up to the tall dreams contained in the manifestoes of our party. This, the party assures will guard against glaring mis-governance.
“Confidently however, we must be clear on this fact:, those who have left the APC in Benue State are those whom we made available our party platform when they were rejected by other political parties. This we did at grave costs to us as a party by availing them our platform at the eleventh hour, yet, the Benue people voted for our party believing, quite correctly that the time for change had come.
“Today, the Benue electorate is even wiser. The people know to which political parties those who have squandered their goodwill have run to. The electorate shall surely fish them out and vote them out, since they have refused to change.
The party therefore, reassured her loyal members and teeming supporters that nothing has changed regarding the party’s resolve for a better Benue, maintaining that they have shown before that the party can defeat the PDP.
“We have learnt our lessons and we are no longer new on the scene. On this solidarity march purposed towards putting our State in positive reckoning, we shall be offering for public office only those we are assured of a sustained performance beyond the mediocrity that has prevailed. We must progress, together, for Benue”, Apeh stated.
