A faction loyal to the national Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole has recommended Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki and two other leaders in the State executive of the party for expulsion.
The two other persons listed are the State factional Chairman Aselm Ojezua and immediate past Edo APC Women Leader, Mrs Aisosa Amadasun who are both loyal to Governor Obaseki’s faction.
Edo State factional Chairman of APC, Colonel David Imuse made the recommendation to National Working Committee (NWC) while addressing the Media on Sunday in Benin City.
He disclosed that it will full hardy to field the incumbent Governor of the State who was disqualified on by the APC screening panel for Edo State Governorship poll, haven took the party to court.
Godwin Obaseki, Aselm Ojezua and some other persons have gone to court in violation of Article 21, sub-section D5 of the APC Constitution in several court cases at the Edo State High court and the Federal High court. They have shopped for injunctions and rulings to circumvent the processes of law and the party Constitution in defiance of democratic norms”.
Imuse stated that action of Governor Obaseki, Aselm Ojezua and some other persons who took APC to court was in violation of Article 21, sub-section D5 and Section 17 sub-section 16 of APC Constitution which says that a vote of no confidence shall be passed on any member hat takes the party to court.
In the light of the bitter experience of APC in losing the Governorship election of Bayelsa State November 2019 “in court after a well-deserved victory”, according to him, “it would be foolhardy to allow a Candidate with dodgy and faulty academic credentials to fly our party’s flag in the September 19, 2020”.
