Ahead of the forthcoming off cycle Osun state governorship election in 2026, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji on Friday boasted that he will win the election because he has virtually no competitor.
Oyebamiji who spoke at the National Secretariait of the party in Abuja shortly after collecting his Certificate of Return said, the people of Osun are eager to vote for him because of their resolve to return the state to the fold of the APC.
According to him, the state is already tired of the incumbent, Governor Ademola Adeleke whom he said has reduced governance to the level of dancing.
“I want to assure you that Osun people are ready for APC to take the mantle of that power from the dancing government. The business of governance is a serious business, and we have a lot of human assets.
“We have a lot of material assets in the state of Osun, and we need a serious manager to drive that asset. That serious manager is Bola Oyebamiji. And now that I have that mandate, we are going to carry that mandate and come 2026 and 2027, we are going to deliver Osun. We are going to deliver to President Tinubu in the presidential election.
Earlier in his remarks, the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda said the issuance of the Certificate of Return was symbolic to inform the world that the party now has a governorship candidate.
Yilwatda said the primary election was via the consensus option because the other aspirants were united in adopting Oyebamiji to fly the party’s flag the election which takes place next year.
“Our candidate was chosen by consensus, which is unique compared to all other political parties, the nine candidates came together and picked one of them to represent them in the general election. It shows the level of symbiosis and the good relationship between the candidates, which we know the candidate is going to carry everybody along, not just in the primary election but also in the general election and also in governance.
“So we are proud and happy to announce that Bola Oyebamiji will be the sole candidate of APC in that election. We also handed over to him his Certificate of Return and he is now, by this Certificate of Return given to him today, our candidate for 2026 election in August 2026 in Osun election”.
The APC boss also assured the people of Osun that the party is ready to stand by them day and night from now until the day of the election, and to ensure that APC wins Osun state convincingly.
