The Independent National Electoral Commission has commenced the distribution of sensitive election materials to the 30 local government areas of Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The exercise began at the Central Bank of Nigeria headquarters in Osogbo, the state capital, on Thursday.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola, signed the result sheets as part of the preparations for the August 15 poll.
Our correspondent, Mahmud Isa, who witnessed the exercise, reports that the distribution of the materials to the local government areas is ongoing.
The development comes as INEC intensifies preparations for the election, with political parties and their candidates set for the final stage of the electoral process.
The commission is expected to issue further official comments on the distribution exercise and other preparations ahead of Saturday’s election.
The CBN facility in Osogbo is serving as the venue for the handling and distribution of the sensitive electoral materials.
The August 15 governorship election is expected to attract voters across the state as INEC, security agencies and other stakeholders conclude preparations for the poll.
