The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the September 22 governorship election in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore has described that party as unstoppable in the election.
Omisore specifically expressed the confidence that SDP will emerge victory at the election.
The SDP flagbearer, who spoke shortly after being presented with certificate of returns at the party’s headquarters in Abuja, declared that he has no political godfather, unlike the candidates of other political parties who rely solely on their god fathers.
Omisore stated that he would score nothing less than one million votes at the September 22 election to emerge victorious.
According to him, “We are on a journey to victory in Osun state. We are unstoppable. I have no god father like other parties in Osun state”.
The candidate promised to plug all areas of wastages regarding the economy of the state if he emerges the governor of the state.
Speaking at the ceremony, the National Secretary of the party, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam advised the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole on the need to maintain decorum in his language and conduct so as not to heat up the polity.
Gabam reminded Oshiomhole that there is a difference between being a labour leader and national chairman of a political party.
The SDP National Secretary, who was reacting to a statement credited to the APC National Chairman on the coalition by some opposition parties, said nobody has a monopoly for the use of vulgar language.
According to him, “The Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole should appreciate one fact: there is a difference between being a labour leader and a national chairman of a political party.
“He should also know that nobody has a monopoly of vulgarism.
“Some of us are career politicians, we have the capacity to balance that kind of rhetoric and we are prepared to take him inch by inch on every issue,” he stated.
The SDP National Scribe further advised Oshiomhole to be humble enough to learn the process of running a political structure and stop making unguarded utterances that are going to heat up the system.
“It is an exercise we know too well and we are prepared for the trenches. So I will advice the APC chairman to be cautious, know the difference between being a labour leader with comradeship mentality and running a political structure that has a process and language and decorum,” he further advised.
On the coalition with other political parties, Alhaji Gabam accepted that there was a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) but things were yet to be defined.
“But at SDP we are hundred per cent intact. We have not conceded one inch of our constitution and our operation. We have presidential aspirants who have declared under APC, more are coming,” he added.
Senator Omisore described his victory as a journey to emancipate Osun people whom he said, have been in bondage for eight years.
He commended the direct primary adopted by the party to conduct the primary, adding that the election was rancour free.
Omisore assured that with 216, 000 SDP members in Osun State, the party would win the governorship election.
