Our commitment to democratic ideals, internal reforms sacrosanct – LP

The Senator Nenadi Usman led Labour Party (LP) at a virtual expanded meeting of key stakeholders of the party reaffirmed its resolve to uphold democratic ideals and internal reforms.

A statement by Ken Eluma Asogwa, the Senior Special Adviser, Media, to the Interim National Chairman of the party, Sen. Nenadi Usman said the meeting unanimously commended the interim leadership of Sen. Usman and passed a resounding vote of confidence in her stewardship as the Interim National Chairman.

Asogwa further revealed that the meeting was well-attended by both the leadership and critical stakeholders of the party, including the 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi; Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti; Interim National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman; Interim National Secretary, Senator Darlington Nwokocha.

Other notable attendees include; Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, Labour Party governorship candidate for Lagos State in 2023, Rhodes- Vivour; Deputy National Chairman, Mohammed Usman Misau; Deputy National Chairman, Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku; Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ikechukwu Emetu; Senator Victor Umeh; Senator Okey Ezea; Mrs. Maria Labeke, former acting National Chairman, Labour Party, Rotimi Odunaike; Interim Chairman Labour Party, Lagos State; former President of the NBA, Mr. Olumide Akpata; BOT member, PA Lawson Osagie; representatives of the NLC and TUC; and several other critical stakeholders of the party.

“In light of recent developments within the political landscape – particularly as they concern the Labour Party – the meeting resolved to deepen its commitment to initiatives that strengthen democratic institutions and sustain the tenets of democracy in Nigeria.

“The party restated its commitment to internal cohesion, democratic consolidation, and national development”, the statement concluded.
