The Chief Operating Officer, COO, of Premium Times Group, Mr Musikilu Mojeed, has listed the expansion of Nigeria’s reading public and making essential books accessible to the people as part of the mission of Premium Times Books (PTB).
Mojeed said this at the weekend in Abuja in his speech at the public presentation of the book ‘Burden of the Nigerian Legislators’, authored by Senator Effiong Bob.
The mission of PTB, he added, also include bringing vital works on Nigeria, wherever they are published, back to a national audience.
At the book presentation, which had in attendance; the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, another former Senate President and National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark and Chief of Staff to President, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila among others, Mojeed pointed out the mission of the PTB is in three folds.
According to him, “Our mission at Premium Times Books is threefold: to expand Nigeria’s reading public, to make essential books accessible, and to bring vital works on Nigeria, wherever they are published, back to a national audience”.
Mojeed described book, ‘The Burden of Legislators in Nigeria’, which was published by PTB as a political memoir, a historical record, and a practical manual on how power actually works in Nigeria.
His words, “This book is at once a political memoir, a historical record, and a practical manual on how power actually works in Nigeria.
“At Premium Times Books, we believe deeply in the power of stories. Not gossip or trivia, but consequential stories- the kind that help a society understand itself.
“Stories are barometers of social health. They reveal what works, what is broken, and what urgently needs fixing.
“That is why we invest in publishing works that document, interrogate, and preserve Nigeria’s political and social experience. This book does precisely that.
“The Burden of Legislators in Nigeria lays bare the heavy, and often distorting, expectations placed on Nigerian lawmakers by their constituencies, as well as the internal pressures within the political system itself.
“It examines how legislators must navigate godfathers, meddlesome governors, executive overreach, and relentless public demands, pressures that frequently undermine, rather than strengthen, democratic governance”, he said.
Mojeed described the author of the book this way: “He is, quite simply, a quintessential insider — one who has seen the system from every angle and borne its burdens firsthand”.
He added, “That lived experience, combined with extensive engagement with fellow legislators, gives this book its authority and credibility. It is not speculation; it is testimony”.
