Ozoro Polytechnic Rector denies receiving N450m from Delta Govt for projects

Alleged N450 million mismanaged fund recently disbursed to Ozoro Polytechnic, Ozoro, in Delta state by the Delta State Government for the upgrade of three departments, Mass Communication, Civil and Mechanical Engineering, is currently generating rumpus.
It was gathered that the school’s rector, Professor Job Akpordiate and two other management staff allegedly channelled the fund for frivolous projects.
But in swift reaction, Professor Akpordiate described the allegation as unfounded, and baseless, adding “we don’t have such money here, and the state government did not give us any money, our school is doing well, it’s the best in all”
Sources within the corridors of government insisted N450million was disbursed, adding the rector denied because of the Governor’s order for explanation.
The source who did not want to be named in the print said “I can tell you for free that Governor Okowa is interested on how the fund was expended, some of the students wrote the governor hence the rector is running into confusion, there is no upgrade at all in the school.”
Though, the management of polytechnic is making sure that students get the best they deserved academically, but NAMCOSST,a body of Mass Communication students, insisted the school management should consider the safety and wellbeing of her students .
Speaking to our reporter, the leader of the Body, Pricesly Ogoroh said “ we are very happy the polytechnic is making good educational quality, but we implore the management of polytechnic to look into the allegation of the N450 million and to also wade into the maintenance of the institution environment, the premises is over grown, and filthy. “
In his reaction, Chairman, Board of Governing Council of the institution, Funkekeme Solomon said “I am hearing the purported fund release as a rumour, I am not aware of such fund, we will keep watching to know the truth.”
