Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN) has closed down 3,000 open drugs markets responsible for the distribution of illicit drugs.
The council also arrested more than 10 people in connection with the dispensation of illicit drugs across the federation.
The Registrar of the council, Pharm Ibrahim Ahmed Baba Shehu stated this during a courtesy visit to Niger state governor on its sensitization tour in Minna.
He said that the Council has put in place measures to sanitize drugs markets by closing all sources of open drugs facilities to curb the menace of illicit drugs in the country.
Baba Shehu said that PCN has within a period of seven months effected the closure of open drugs markets in Sabon Gari, Kano; Idimota in Lagos and under bridge in Onisha.
