PDP crisis: Faction seeks Court order to hold NEC

Date:

….as plot to remove Damagum thickens

By Folorunsho Alagbede

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) loyal to Bauchi state Governor, Bala Muhammad has approached the Court seeking an ex parte order to hold the party’s National Executive Council, (NEC)) meeting.
It would be recalled that some Governors elected under PDP and led by Mohammed had moved to remove acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum.
The move deepened the crisis in the party as some stakeholders, especially those loyal to the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) Nyesom Wike opposed the move.
The Federal High Court Abuja had also issued an order barring the party from removing Damagum.
The suit by Mohammed’s faction was filed at the Federal High Court in Zamfara State.
