Zamfara State Governor, Dr Dauda Lawan has harped on the need for members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to set aside their differences and embrace the spirit of genuine reconciliation in the overall interest of the party.

Governor Lawan, who is also the Chairman of the Accreditation sub- committee of the PDP national convention, spoke on Friday during the official inauguration of the accreditation committee at the Legacy House, Abuja.

The leaders of the PDP, he maintained, must be steadfastly resolute to provide unbiased and selfless service that will ensure an all inclusive and successful elective national convention in Ibadan, the Oyo State come November 15 and 16 this year.

While nothing that there may be disagreements among the PDP members at the moment, the Governor expressed the optimism that whatever problems existing will be resolved in a family way.

His words, “Our great party is a family and like any family, we may have disagreements. It is inevitable no matter what we do, it’s just a matter of time. “But the overall interest of this collective family must supersede individual ambitions.

“We as leaders remain steadfast in our resolve to provide unbiased and selfless service to consensus and build a convention that is truly all-inclusive.

“A great thinker once said, alone we can do so little, together we can do so much. This word resonates deeply today. We must stand together, we must work together, we must heal together.

“As you come on this way to your assignment, I pray for the divine intervention and wisdom, as well as guidance from each one of you. May the Almighty Allah grant you the clarity, strength and unity of purpose to excel in this task”, he stressed.

Lawan urged members of the committee to give thrir assignment the total dedication and selfless commitment it demands.

According to him, “The work you are about to undertake is the very foundation upon which a credible transparent and successful convention will be built. Ladies and gentlemen, the mandate of this committee is both an honor as well as a very heavy burden and your responsibilities are very clear.

“This is not merely an administrative task, it is a sacred trust. You are the gatekeepers of our convention integrity, so you can imagine the burden of trust that is imposed on all of us to be fair to everyone so that we can have a very successful convention. Inshallah.

“Your work on accreditation is the favorable wind that will guide our ship and therefore you can imagine the burden that is on all of us.

“Without your diligence, our journey falters. Without your commitment to fairness, the very legitimacy of our proceedings could be called into question.

“Therefore, I implore you, give this assignment the total dedication and selfless commitment it demands.

“As we embark on this crucial journey, we cannot ignore the broader context our party is navigating, a political trend that is indeed both uncharted and very very turbulent. In this time, I wish to make a heartfelt appeal to all of us.

“Leadership comes with a lot of responsibility, but I believe all of us here, that are carefully selected, have what it takes to provide that leadership.

‘Let us set aside our differences. Let us embrace the spirit of genuine reconciliation”, he said.
