Some suspected thugs were said to have attacked supporters of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar when he carried out his campaign rally to Gombe state on Monday.

 

Our correspondent gathered that the attack came barely some minutes when the presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and his entourage left the venue at the Pantami stadium.

 

The thugs who were allegedly supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were sited along the road with dangerous weapons in their possession.

 

Some accounts said the thugs also destroyed vehicles that ply the road even as residents within the area scampered ro safety.

The thugs who went on rampage attacked supporters who wore PDP caps and T- shirts at the end of the campaign rally.

A source told our correspondent that some thugs were seen collecting mobile phones from helpless people within liberty junction along Jekada-fari Gombe.

At the time of filling this report, no specific figure of casualty was given by security agencies
