PDP wins House of Reps supplementary election in Taraba

Sadiq Tafida of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), has emerged as the member-elect for the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing federal constituency in Taraba State.
Tafida, 32, who scored a total of 19,681 votes garnered from the rerun and supplementary polls held on Wednesday, was the son of the Emir of Muri, Alhaji Abbas Njiddah Tafida.
Announcing the results on Thursday, the returning officer, a lecturer at the University of Wukari, Professor Olarenwaju Oladipo, said the PDP candidate scored a total of 19,681 votes to emerge as the winner of the keenly contested rerun election in Taraba.
Innocent Jabayang of the Social Democratic Party, (SDP), trailed behind with 16,379 votes, while Aminu Malle of the All Progressive Congress, (APC), got 12,662 votes.
The election, which the returning officer said was keenly contested, also saw Aminu Liman, the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP), receive 3,646 votes.
The rerun election for the House of Representatives position was held in the state on February 3, 2024, but was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).
