Kaduna state government has said peaceful co-existence as the pinnacle for development, calling on people in the state to emulate residents of
Kurmin-Sara community, in Kachia local government area, where people of different faith and ethnic background have been living together in peace for decades without any recorded crisis.
The Chairman of Kachia local government, Hon. Peter Agite made this assertion during 2014 Unity and Peace day celebration held at Kurmi-Sara recently.
Hon. Agite disclosed that the residents of the community, through their continuous meetings and collaboration, have identified security challenges in the area thereby making the community free from any form of clash.
The convener, Comrade Joseph Ayuba Bako (JP) said that the initiative was borne out the need for Bajju, Hausa, Jaba, Saura and Igbo to continue to live together in peace so as to unanimously protect the community and contribute to its education and other facets of development including stable electricity, potable water, toilet facilities, hospital and security.
Comrade Bako urged other sons and daughters of the community to join hands to ameliorate the yearnings and aspirations of the people especially as regards security of lives and property of the people who live in the area.
In their separate remarks, the Chief Imam of Kurmin Sara Juma’at Mosque, Alhaji Liman Yahaya and Reverend Father Edward Bako, informed the gathering that the area has been enjoying peace because of continuous dialogue, stressing that if each community that form the larger society would come together and embrace peace, it would spread to the local government, state, country and the world at large.
