The Director-General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC ), Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, on Tuesday said the Federal Government was intensifying reforms to position Nigeria as Africa’s leading investment destination and support President Bola Tinubu’s vision of building a $1tn resilient and globally competitive economy.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Audu said the council remained committed to removing barriers to business, improving investor confidence and making government institutions more responsive to citizens and enterprises.
“Our ambition remains clear: to position Nigeria as the leading destination for investment in Africa and to support the President’s vision of building a resilient, inclusive and globally competitive one-trillion-dollar economy,” she said.
She thanked government agencies, the organised private sector, development partners, state governments and the media for supporting the council’s reform agenda.
According to her, ongoing reforms are reducing the cost of doing business, boosting investor confidence and improving service delivery across government institutions.
“Together, we are building a Nigeria where the government works better, businesses thrive, investment grows and prosperity is shared,” she said.
Audu said the reforms reflected the impact of the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that businesses and citizens were already experiencing tangible benefits.
“They demonstrate that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Renewed Hope Agenda is not merely a policy framework; it is producing tangible results that businesses, investors and citizens can see, experience and benefit from,” she added.
The PEBEC boss said business environment reforms remained an ongoing process, stressing that government must continue adapting to the changing expectations of investors and businesses.
She disclosed that the council would, in the coming months, consolidate existing gains while accelerating a fresh round of reforms aimed at making Nigeria Africa’s preferred destination for investment and enterprise.
Among the priorities, she listed deeper implementation of the Business Facilitation Act across Ministries, Departments and Agencies, strengthening institutional accountability through ReportGov, expanding grievance resolution mechanisms and increasing the number of ReportGov help desks at international airports and other strategic locations.
Other focus areas include improving Nigeria’s visa regime and traveller experience, enhancing public service responsiveness, strengthening the work of the Ports and Customs Efficiency Committee to improve trade facilitation, accelerating SABER implementation, advancing the digitisation of government services and expanding public-private dialogue.
“These priorities reflect our determination to ensure that every reform delivers measurable improvements for businesses, investors and citizens,” Audu said.
