A Philanthropist, Dr Christopher Ndubuisi, also know as “Ikenga Umuawulu” has pledged to provide a solar power system for the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH) in Awka.
This is contained in a statement issued by the new New Chief Medical Director and management of COOUTH, Dr Dr Maureen Umeakuewulu on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to her, Ndubuisi, a notable philanthropist in Anamabra also extended financial support of ₦20,000 to each inpatient in the hospital, sparking heartfelt gratitude among patients and their families

She noted that, his visit reflected more on his enduring philosophy: ‘Let Love Lead’
He congratulated Umeakuewulu on her well-deserved appointment as Chief Medical Director of COOUTH).
Ndubuisi described Umeakuewulu as a distinguished consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist with a proven track record in women’s health and medical leadership.
Ndubuisi also commended the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for what he termed “visionary and merit-based appointment”.
He noted that, her wealth of experience and prior leadership role as President of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (FCT Chapter) positions her strongly to drive excellence and transformation in the hospital.
He stressed that excellence is a collective responsibility, urging all hands to be on deck in repositioning COOUTH for greater impact, pledging to provide a solar power system for the hospital wards.
“This is a critical intervention aimed at ensuring steady electricity, improving patient care conditions, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting uninterrupted medical services.
“I extended financial support of ₦20,000 to each inpatient which sparked heartfelt gratitude among patients and their families,” he said
Reinforcing his standard of excellence, Ndubuisi reminded all present that better is not good enough, emphasizing that COOUTH must strive for the highest standards because the best is yet to come.
Meanwhile, Umeakuewulu,expressed profound appreciation for the visit and the generous support, noting that such interventions are vital to the hospital’s growth.
She called on stakeholders and well-meaning individuals to invest in COOUTH, affirming that collective commitment remains key to building a world-class healthcare institution.
