The president of the Federal republic of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan has approved the concessionary exchange rate of 1$ to N150 for both Christians and Muslims for this year’s pilgrimage exercise.
Consequently, the total cost of this year’s Christian pilgrimage is N 364,000 for 11 days which is inclusive of accommodation, air ticket, feeding and other logistics.
A statement by the head of media and Publicity, Nigeria Christian pilgrims Commission, (NCPC) Mr Celestine Ogugua said the NCPC helms man; John Kennedy Opara disclosed this in Lokoja, during a sensitisation visit to Kogi State.
He commended the Governor of kogi State, Capt. Idris Wada for elevating the kogi State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board to a full-fledged Commission, adding that the Governor’s commitment to the welfare of the Christians and Muslims in the state were greatly appreciated.
The NCPC boss also informed the Governor that the Commission plans to use the pilgrimage to build the spiritual lives of young people, hence the inclusion of the family pilgrimage to the formally two fold pilgrimages of October and Easter periods.
In his remarks, the Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada described Kogi State as a religious tolerant state where Christians and Muslims live in peaceful co-existence. He affirmed that the state would continue to support morality and spirituality in line with the transformation agenda of President Jonathan.
