The police yesterday arraigned a fashion designer, a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Wuse 2, Abuja, for breaking into an office, ransacking and stealing some items.
The 28-year-old Jimoh, who lives in Nyanya, is charged with conspiracy, trespass, mischief and theft.
The prosecutor, Cpl Christopher Johnson, told the court that on Nov. 27, 2013 at about 3 p.m., Mr Charles Okafor of Block J, suite 20, POWA Plaza Nyanya, lodged a report at the Maitama Police Station.
Johnson told the court that the accused person broke into the office, ransacked it and damaged some equipment.
He alleged that the accused also stole a video camera, amplifier, a projector and a Rolex wristwatch.
The prosecutor told the court that the offence contravened sections 97, 348, 287 and 322 of the Penal Code.If found guilty, he is liable to five years imprisonment.The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor prayed the court to grant him a date to open the case since the accused had pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The counsel to the accused, MrEmekaOgbodo-King, urged the court to grant the accused bail on liberal terms.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr Celestine Odoh, admitted the accused to bail for N150, 000 and a surety.
Odoh ordered that the surety must be someone with reliable source of livelihood.
Odoh also ordered that the surety must have a fixed address and be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.
He adjourned the matter until May 19 for hearing (NAN)
