In a proactive effort to enhance security in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during the upcoming yuletide season, some operatives of the FCT Police Command conducted a raid on a criminal hideout at the Timber Market, Dei-Dei, in Abuja, which resulted in the arrest of four armed robbery suspects.
Alao, during the raid, some items recovered include one locally made gun, three live cartridges and three expended cartridges, four knives and large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp
A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer for
FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, explained that based on credible intelligence, police detectives from the Dei-Dei ‘B’ Division, under the directive of Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Olatunji Disu, conducted a raid on on November 21, 2024.
It added that four suspects were Nura Halilu, Salim Mohammed, Saifullahi Usman, and Usman Mohammed.
According to the statement, investigations revealed that the hideout belongs to their gang leader, who is currently at large, and that it served as a hub for drug dealing, stolen phones, and other crimes.
“One of the suspects, Ismail Tasiu, also known as “Old School,” confessed to operating in the area for over ten (10) years. Another suspect, Nura Halilu, admitted to being part of an armed robbery and drug-dealing syndicate led by a fugitive named Murtala.
“All suspects are currently in custody and will face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations.
