Sokoto state Police Command has arrested no fewer than nine suspects on account of robbery cases in the state.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Alhaji Shu’aibu Lawan Gambo while parading the suspects alongside their weapons said through available information provided by the public.
He said a gang of armed robber, four in number, were apprehended while trying to rob a businessman at Bubuza village, in Wurno local government area of the state. He said dangerous weapons that include long swords, axe, mask and torchlight were recovered from them.
Similarly, the CP also said eight members of armed gang who attempted to attack a victim, one Yusuf Jibo with AK-47 rifle were smashed. He further explained that one member of the gang was arrested while another suspect was shot dead.
The Command also paraded two other suspects, who were arrested in connection with a robbery incident at Illela town, a border town with Niger Republic. The Police had earlier apprehended three suspects of the gang and recovered looted money to the tune of N15 million in cash.
The Police Commissioner, however, applauded the synergy between the Police and the public, saying that “the partnership between us by sharing information is yielding positive result.
He warned criminal elements not to see the Sokoto as their favourite state to perpetrate their nervous activities.
