Police arrest Kano TikToker over boyfriend’s death

 

The police command in Kano State, has arrested a popular TikToker, Fati Cele, following the death of her boyfriend, Isma’il Makaye, at her residence in Danbare Quarters in Kano.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed her arrest via a WhatsApp message on Saturday.

Haruna failed to give further detail on the issue as investigations were ongoing.

“Yes, it’s true, the TikToker is currently being detained over the death of her boyfriend, Isma’il Makaye,” he said.

Cele, a native of Borno State, lives in a rented apartment in the Danbare area of Kano and had more than 32,000 followers on TikTok.

A source which spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the TikToker had rushed out of her house calling neighbours to help put out a fire in her residence.

The source said that the boyfriend was found and rushed to Nassarawa Hospital for treatment but later died.

It was further gathered that officers from the Dorayi Babba Police Division subsequently took Cele into custody as part of investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Makaye, a cosmetics trader who lived in the Hotoro Tishama area of Kano, had been buried at Unguwa Uku Yan Awaki after his remains were released to his family for burial, according to family source.
