Kaduna State Police Command said it had successfully intercepted two male suspects in possession of a fabricated AK-47 rifle at Madaci Village, Zaria LGA.
This was contained in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Mansir Hassan, and made available to the media today.
The statement stated that the two suspects identified as Abulaziz Habibu (male, 25 years old) and Nuhu Thomas (male, 25 years old), are both residents of Dogon Dawa, Birnin Gwari L.G.A.
The statement further stated that the suspects confessed to being involved in the illicit trade of arms, supplying weapons to notorious bandits operating in the Zaria area.
Their confessions have provided crucial leads, and they are currently cooperating with the police in ongoing investigations aimed at identifying and apprehending their accomplices.
“ In a separate operation, on the same date, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tafa Division acting on credible information received from a reliable source led a surveillance team to Gidan Abeh Village, Kagarko LGA, where they successfully apprehended one Abubakar Yahuza, a 36-year-old male resident of Gidan Abeh Village.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to running errands and serving as an informant for the kidnappers who reportedly hibernate within the Gidan Dogo Forest.”
